Hi I'm Orest

I’m a senior in High School and I’m looking for something exciting to do. I am tired of all the regular teenager things I do. I hope I can find something to do because I’m so tired of school along with my acute senioritis which doesn’t help at all. I am a big fan of those crazy guys on animal planet like Jeff Corwin and Steve Irwin who always seem to play with snakes. The snakes get hypnotized by those guys so easily and I want to learn to do that or something similar. Maybe I can be in the Guinness Book of World Records. I have always wanted to set a record in something, even if it means balancing between life and death. If I can just concentrate long enough maybe I can sit in a cage with those venomous snakes and have some fun with it. No one will mess with me once they know I can relate to those cold-blooded creatures. Everyone hates snakes but they play an important role in the ecosystem. Without snakes some animals might overpopulate and become pests. Snakes keep animals in check within a habitat. The problems arise when people take snakes as pets and release them in the wrong place once they grow larger.

New Trainer

I have this great new trainer that will only boost my efforts at becoming a snake charmer or a personality like Steve Irwin or Jeff Corwin. He’s a Sunny Moslem with Arab snake charming skills that will make me not hesitate when entering the cage full of venomous snakes. The intimidation that I have been feeling lately will slowly melt away until I enjoy being with the snakes proving that I have no fear of death. I know the tissue damage they can cause within minutes of their painful bite. The neurotoxic venom can immobilize me if I am left untreated. Hopefully the close calls I have had with the snakes have only served as and advantage and made me stronger. I hope to one day be immune to all the venom of snakes so that I can be a snake myself. The Gaboon vipers are the worst with their two-inch long fangs that puncture the skin with ease. My trainer has taught me some special tricks to follow when dealing with snakes. I can actually cool my body down to the temperature of snake in order to naught get caught by the heat seeking fangs of some vipers. This new trainer has really helped me out.

Vincent's Casa Mario

I just went out to dinner to the commercial strip with Heinrich and Jack Gladney. Eating at four in the afternoon is a relatively early dinner for most people, but just around the time for my main meal. The restaurant was Vincent’s Casa Mario where the food is usually good. In order to perform in the cage I need to maintain a steady diet of carbohydrates. I do not want to have problems with my eating and the amount of energy I have for the trial of snakes. After I managed to get used to sleeping while sitting up, I must continue to perfect my transformation into a snake. There will be no slithering out of the big day no matter what anybody says. My mind is set on this goal and no one can stop me. Only a few people support my efforts, those are the people that are my true friends. Heinrich believes in me and thinks I can do it. My buddy will never let me down, even when my training gets me down. The hard work of the training comes to show my resilience and fortitude. Next time I post I will be right on the brink of the cage, wish me luck.

Cage Time

Finally, here comes the big day that I have been training for. Sitting in a cage full of snakes with no worries just what I trained for with. I have to be the snake, feel the snake and become a snake. Snakes do not worry me because I do not fear death; I’m so prepared for this that I have it in the bag. My straining schedule has been perfect and it all adds up to this one day where I accomplish my goal. My trainer let me know of all the possible problems I could encounter, so this is it. Snakes are so comforting and quiet, except for rattlesnakes, but anyways I’ll probably relax and fall asleep and they won’t do anything. Can you believe Jack Gladney, Heinrich’s dad trying to convince me to bail out on my destiny? People have to take risks and enjoy the moment. If not there is not point in life, why take the easy path and not push your limits. Nothing to fear Orest Mercator is here. Once I go in the cage there is no going back and I will be known all over the world for my courageous determination. I will look death in the eye and be able to tell the story to the rest of the world.
